Terms And Conditions
Sail & Canvas – Terms & Conditions
1. Scope of Service
Seasonal servicing includes inspection, reporting, storage, laundry (if requested), and minor repairs for sails and canvas covers. New covers, window replacement, and special projects are quoted individually.
2. Inspection & Reporting
All items are inspected for wear, UV damage, stitching condition, hardware issues, mould, window clarity, zip condition, and structural concerns. A written or verbal summary of recommended work will be provided where necessary.
3. Minor Repairs Included
To ensure items are safe and ready for use, minor repairs up to a value of £25 may be carried out without prior approval. This covers small tears, loose stitching, minor patches, simple hardware fixes, and minor window edge repairs.
4. Major Repairs
If inspection reveals repairs that:
require more than 30 minutes of labour, or
exceed £25 in value,
you will be contacted before any work is carried out. No major repairs will proceed without your approval.
5. Laundry & Cleaning Service
Laundry (sails) and cleaning (canvas covers) are carried out by our specialist partners. All sails are weighed prior to cleaning. Minimum charges apply as stated on the Services & Charges page. Reproofing and coatings are optional extras.
6. Storage Conditions
Sails and covers are stored in a dry environment between 01 October and 31 March. JS Sails & Covers is not responsible for pre‑existing mould, staining, or damage discovered during storage.
7. Removal & Refit (Optional)
If requested, sails or covers can be removed and refitted at the rates listed on the Services & Charges page. Travel charges apply outside the free 5‑mile radius. The free 5‑mile radius only covers the initial removal and refit — any additional visits outside this area will be charged as per our Services & Charges.
8. Customer Responsibilities
Customers must ensure:
Items are reasonably clean before inspection (excessively dirty sails or covers may require cleaning first).
Excessively dirty items can damage machines and equipment.
Any known issues are disclosed at drop‑off.
Items stored as part of seasonal servicing must be collected by 31/03, or they will incur a storage fee of £3.00 per kg per item per month.
9. Liability
JS Sails & Covers will take all reasonable care when handling sails and canvas. We are not liable for:
pre‑existing damage,
hidden structural issues,
damage caused by age‑related degradation,
failures resulting from customer‑declined repair recommendations,
window cracking caused by age‑stiffened PVC,
colour fade or UV‑related deterioration.
10. New Covers & Special Projects
All new covers, window replacements, bespoke canvas work, and special projects are quoted individually. Quotes may change if additional issues are discovered during fabrication or disassembly. Customers will be informed before any additional work is carried out.
11. Collection & Payment
All servicing charges must be paid upon collection. Unless otherwise agreed, items not collected within 30 days of notification may incur storage fees of £3.00 per kg per item per month, minimum 1kg.
12. Turnaround Times
Turnaround times are estimates and may vary depending on workload, weather, supplier delays, or material availability. Emergency repairs are prioritised but not guaranteed within 24 hours.
13. Quoting
Quotes are provided after inspection or measurement. Quotes are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.
14. Agreement
By leaving their sail, cover, or canvas item with us — or by booking our services — the customer agrees to these Terms & Conditions.
